I'm not a guitar fanatic. I don't know one guitar from the other. I can recognize the brand names, and whether one is a plug-in acoustic or not. I can tell if one sounds better than the other, if I have two to compare; I also know that acoustic guitars made of aluminum [or whatever metal it is that they make it out of nowadays] sound crappy. Only recently have I begun to even look at electric guitars, since I I really started learning the electric this year. It was just last week that it dawned upon me that different electric guitars have different sounds. I'm sure I seem like some sort of bimbo, thinking that the shape of guitars are only an aesthetic thing, like the colors and sparkles and the nice inset pearly designs that can come with a guitar. Some how it never occurred to me that the Les Paul has a whiny sound to it because it was MADE that way, not because people tamper with the EQ in a certain way I could never replicate. There's a reason why, despite my pumping the bass control and distortion to max on my amp and pedal, I can never seem to get the same thick, metal sound that I like. DUH. It's because I have some random guitar called the HAMER SLAMMER.
[I can already imagine Tom telling me not to slam the Hamer Slammer. But its true.] Out of the blue sometime in the last 2 weeks, I decided to revive my search for a nice electric guitar. And by nice, I was thinking aesthetically pleasing, considering I still haven't had my recent epiphany. For all I knew, they were all the same, just like acoustics each had a slightly different sound, but were all essentially the same. I had been eyeing the B.C Rich Warlock for a while now, just because of how bad ass it looks. I made Tom take me a a couple of music stores, and the first guitar I tried was the warlock.
He kept warning me about how heavy it was, that I probably shouldn't attempt to
jump around in heels [around 3:22] with one. Yeah, whatever, it'll build muscle. We took it in a practice room [that just so happened to also be filled with invisible mosquitoes] and plugged it in. The single note that sliced through the air was breath-taking. It was rich, baritone, and oh so delicious. I was in love. But then the invisible mosquitoes got really bad, and we were covered in bug bites, so we had to exit the store before I could attempt to hop around with it slung across my shoulder. I demanded the reason why that guitar sounded so much fuller, so much better than the Hamer Slammer. Tom looked at me incredulously. Then I knew. DUH. Because B.C Rich made metal guitars, and not all guitars were meant to play metal [insert Les Paul epiphany here].
A quick search on ebay and Craigslist showed that I could get away with a brand new warlock for around $200 bucks, or a second-hand one that comes with a coffin case. [Not too thrilled about the coffin-shape. I want badass, not necrophillic] I was ready to shell out that pretty sum of cash, until I realized that I was going to Cali for a week, so I will prob need that extra cash =.= There went my dreams of acquiring the warlock for my birthday.
There is always October.

When this came out when I was a senior in HS, I totally wanted one, even though my toes prob wouldn't even reach the ground+ may be crushed to death trying to start it up. Some things don't ever seem to change XD
Then there's the
"unholy alliance between B.C. Rich’s famous Beast body shape and Speed V design": The Kerry King Beast V. Now that is one hot guitar. Anyone got a couple of grand they're willing to let me burn? I like how the Slayer dude is pimping out guitars now.

Just going through these makes me realize why people are guitar fanatics and spend thousands and thousands to collect their fav. models. All I need now are the guitar skills to back up this obsession. Excellent reason to go practice my scales [groan] One day I will be able to thrash. Or whetver the term is. Meanwhile, I'll stick with acoustic.
May be getting a new plug-in acoustic. Only because a friend is moving and wants to be rid of it. Can't get both guitars in the same month, unless I don't want to feed myself... >.<
