Sunlight warms the wearily cubicled

By Felicity

My co-worker gave me a persimmon today. His parents grew them in their backyard, and when they visited they gave him a few. I haven't had a persimmon since I was 8. I was on a field trip to a persimmon farm, and we raided the sappy trees, the spicy smell filling the air. I took home 3 trashbags filled to the brim, and my family and I ate them everyday for more than a month. Half a bag later, the fruits had become gooey overripe globs leaking nauseating sweetness everywhere, and no one wanted to have anything to do with a persimmon ever again. I've forgotton what they taste like, and somehow the orange fruit only evokes the memories of thrilled plucking from heavy branches, the eager dragging of the overflowing bags from tree to tree, not so much the torturous weeks of eating them.

Bought a dresser!

By Felicity
After a week of emails, I finally got this hand-painted bombay dresser off craigslist. It's a solid piece with flowers, birds, and vines. Very pretty <3 Thanks Tom and Solomon for moving it without complaint XD Was a difficult journey. but we finally made it!

Ignore the random shoes lol.

Detail on the handle

I don't know how they make bombays

Also came with a GIGANTIC mirror. We're talking about 46 inches in diameter.

Getting pumped for Artomatic

By Felicity
Getting gear for my Artomatic performance mid-June. Unfortunately, good microphones can't just be "plugged" into an amp without some sort of mixer. Most PA systems and amps have them built in, but not mine. Will prob update with unboxing pictures later.

Cheese pizza with Basil - Tagolio in Crystal City

Forgot to take an actual picture of the food =.= But here's the buzzer thing.

Spicy noodles at Superbowl Noodles, officially my favorite noodle place.

Superbowl Noodles makes Beef Noodle Soup better than my childhood place growing up in Taiwan. o.0

Roommate got me a whole oolong set from Teavana!

Not going to elaborate on the gripes I have with Teavana and orientalism, because that would be long and tedious.

The tumbler is ceramic encased in stainless steel to insulate the tea. It also has a nice strainer.

30 st station in Philly!

Ok, so maybe this post covers more than just 2 weeks lol.

Wedding centerpieces!

Found this lil guy in the metro train; I think it's a baby cicada.

Tom got it on a pineapple leaf, and deposited the poor lil thing outside, where it could make it's way to vegetation.

Volunteered at the Japanese Street Festival!

The calm before the storm.

THE STORM!

Manning the Chairman's Reception "tent." Behind the table clothes and the blue curtains, there are innumerable cases of Honest Teas, Kirin beer, Japanese soda, and Pocky.

Oh yes, and Wasabi peas <3

Drink selections! The Ramun soda has a marble as a cap. You have to poke the marble into the soda to drink it. We had the worst time trying to force the marble in (slamming it against tables, against the wall, etc) until we read the directions. Which are on the top of the soda. Duh. Then it was a piece of cake.

So I can think fondly of Paris...

Instead of delicate little macrons, the box now holds my pens at work. It's only be 6 months since the Europe trip, but it feels like forever.

Where is home

Category: , , By Felicity
Take me to where the grass meets the sky
where a defiant voice rises above the clouds and erupts clear
with tongues that taste freshly killed mutton
and milk, curdled and free flowing.
There, I will lay in the fields
looking up to the sky that never ends
where the songs of my heroes
that almost conquered the world
on the backs of horses and furs heavy across shoulders
they never die;
they just ring on and on and on
with throaty double voices
where they ride to the brink of the world
where grass continues downward
as far as the eye can see.

High Ambitions vs Low Drive for Implementation

Category: , By Felicity
I stand at the edge of a cliff, looking down
The answers pave the way
far past where I want to go
but it's one thing to know the right way
it's another to make that leap
Is it the fear of failure, or the sloth that clings to my bones
that is preventing me from the plunge?
